The Augustana volleyball team slid two spots to No. 5 in this week's NCAA Division II Central Region rankings, the NCAA announced today. The Vikings were ranked No. 3 in the first regional rankings of the season two weeks ago.
Augustana is 18-8 this season with a regional record of 13-7. The Vikings lost two matches last week to snap an eight-match winning streak.
Concordia-St. Paul and Southwest Minnesota State held onto the top two spots in the rankings, while Nebraska-Kearney and Wayne State (Neb.) each moved up one spot to third and fourth. Minnesota Duluth, the fifth NSIC team in the rankings, is right behind Augustana at No. 6.
Augustana returns home this weekend for a pair of key NSIC matches. On Friday, the Vikings entertain Concordia-St. Paul in a 7 p.m. match. Then on Saturday, Augie entertains St. Cloud State at 4 p.m. Both matches will be played in the Elmen Center.
