Augie Volleyball Ends Regular Season With 3-0 Win Over Minnesota, Crookston

The No. 22 Augustana women's volleyball team finished up the regular season with a 3-0 win over the University of Minnesota, Crookston Saturday afternoon in the Elmen Center. Set scores were 25-19, 25-17, 25-15.

The Vikings finished the regular season with a 24-10 overall record and a 15-5 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Minnesota, Crookston slipped to 6-23 overall and 6-14 in the NSIC.

Augustana made quick work of the Golden Eagles on Senior Night as Minnesota, Crookston tried to keep it close in the first game, but after Augustan gained the lead at 7-6, Augie did not give up the lead for the rest of the match. 

Augustana's offense was too much for the Golden Eagles. The Vikings hit .354 for match, collecting 58 kills. UMC, meanwhile, managed a team attack percentage of .188, which included 28 kills and 10 errors.

The Vikings were led by junior Ellen Andrews led the team with 12 kills on the night while senior Kati Newgard recorded 10 kills, followed by fellow senior Cayla Schroeder who recorded eight.

Junior Jenna Hultgren had a match-high 12 digs, while Rebecca Hindman recorded 10 in her last regular season match as a Viking. 

Junior Regan Tekavec also played in her two final regular season games for Augustana Saturday.

Senior Lisa Hoegh controlled the ball for the Vikings, recording 49 assists and seven digs in the match.

As a team, Augie finished with a .354 hitting percentage on the night with 58 total kills.

The Vikings are currently No. 7 in the NCAA Division II Central Regional rankings and the top eight seeds get into the regional tournament next week. The seedings will be selected Sunday night and times and dates of the matches will be announced by the host sites on Monday.
