Augustana Volleyball Earns No. 5 Seed for Central Regional Championships

The Augustana College volleyball team earned the No. 5 seed for the NCAA Division II Central Regional Volleyball Championships, scheduled for November 20-22 in St. Paul, Minn. It is the Vikings' sixth-straight regional appearance and 12th appearance in the last 13 years.

The Vikings (23-10) will face No. 4 seed Nebraska-Kearney (31-3)  on Thursday at 5 p.m. in one of four opening round matches at the Gangelhoff Center. Other first round matches feature No. 1 seed Concordia-St. Paul (31-1) facing No. 8 seed Regis (19-11); No. 2 seed Southwest Minnesota State (27-5) tackling No. 7 seed Metro State (18-9); and No. 3 seed Minnesota Duluth (24-8) squaring off against No. 6 seed Wayne State (23-9).

Concordia-St. Paul, the defending national champion, won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and earned the NSIC's automatic bid. The Golden Bears will host the regional tournament, which features five NSIC schools and three teams from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Nebraska-Kearney won the RMAC regular season title, but Regis earned the conference's automatic bid by winning the RMAC conference tournament.
 
Tickets for the Central Regional Championships cost $8 for adults, $5 for students and free for children five years of age and under. Tickets are purchased for the day, allowing ticket holders access to each match of the day the ticket was purchased. There are no advance ticket sales, all tickets will be purchased same-day, at the Gangelhoff Center Front Desk. The arena will be open one hour prior to the first match of each day. No season passes will be honored.
 
The winner of the Central Regional Championship advances to the Division II Elite 8, scheduled for December 4-6.

Match 1 - #3 Minnesota Duluth (24-8) vs. #6 Wayne State (23-9), Noon
Match 2 - #2 Southwest Minnesota State (27-5) vs. #7 Metro State (18-9), 2:30 p.m.
Match 3 - #4 Nebraska-Kearney (31-3) vs. #5 Augustana (23-10), 5 p.m.
Match 4 - #1 Concordia-St. Paul (31-1) vs. #8 Regis (19-11), 7:30 p.m.
Friday, Nov. 21
Match 5 – Match 1 winner vs. Match 2 winner, 5 p.m.
Match 6 – Match 3 winner vs. Match 4 winner, 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 22
Match 7 - Championship Match, 7:30 p.m.
