Tom Davies of Canton, S.D., has signed a national letter of intent to join the Augustana wrestling team, head coach
Jason Reitmeier announced today.
Davies is currently a senior at Canton High School, and is coming off of 44-1 season where he won the South Dakota Class A state championship at 160 pounds, was voted the Most Valuable Wrestler, led his team to a 2nd place state finish with a 30-3 record and finished All-Big Sioux Conference first team.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Tom to our program,” Reitmeier said. “Tom is a very accomplished wrestler, not only in South Dakota but nationally. Tom wrestles a very physical style that will fit in very well with our team. He is also an exceptional student looking to go into the medical field. We are excited to keep one of South Dakota's own at home in-state."
A three-time first team all-conference selection, Davies finished his sophomore year as the state runner-up with a 43-5 record and led his Canton C-Hawks to a fourth place finish at state with a 27-8 record. His freshman season, the C-Hawks finished second, while Davies finished in fourth place at 42-6.
Davies has also competed two years in track and field, lettering both seasons, as well as one year on the cross country team.
