Jeremy Huber Leads Five Vikings on 2008 Football Gazette All-Super Three Region Team

Senior fullback Jeremy Huber was among five Augustana football players recognized on the 2008 Football Gazette All-Super Three Region Team.

Huber was named to the Second Team Offense, while offensive lineman Mark Booth  and running back Joe Clark were named to the Third Team Offense. On defense, safety Brian Baumgartner  and cornerback Jason Donnelly were third team selections.

Huber, Booth, Clark and Baumgartner were all named to the All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference South Division First Team, while Donnelly was a second team honoree.

Huber, a senior from Ethan, S.D., rushed for 666 yards and scored 5 touchdowns in 10 games this season. A bruising rusher and blocker, he also caught 13 passes for 152 yards.

Clark, a sophomore from Rochester, Minn., was the beneficiary of many of Huber's blocks. Clark set an Augustana single-season rushing record with 1,114 yards on 229 carries. He also rushed for 16 touchdowns in addition to catching 19 passes for 135 yards and 1 touchdown. He was named the Offensive Most Valuable Player in the Mineral Water Bowl.

Booth, a senior from Lakeville, Minn., was a four-year starter and two-year captain for the Vikings. He was an instrumental force in helping the Vikings have one of the top offenses in the NSIC. In conference play, Augustana ranked third in rushing offense at 204.7 yards per game. The Vikings were also fifth in the league in scoring offense at 31.8 points per contest.

Baumgartner, a senior from Blaine, Minn., was in on a lot of tackles from his safety position. He was fourth on the team with 89 stops to go along with 3.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, 2 interceptions, 3 pass breakups, 1 fumble recovery and 1 forced fumble.

Donnelly, a senior from Elk Point, S.D., made numerous big plays in the secondary for the Vikings. He accumulated 43 tackles, including 3 tackles for loss. In addition, he led the Vikings with 5 interceptions and 10 pass breakups. He also recovered 1 fumble and blocked 1 kick.

Augustana posted an 8-4 overall record and a 7-3 record in the NSIC. It is the most wins in a season since the 1992 squad went 8-3. The Vikings tied for fourth place in the NSIC overall standings and were third in the NSIC Southern Division. Augustana capped its season by defeating Missouri Western State 37-16 in the Mineral Water Bowl.
