Three Augustana Basketball Doubleheaders to be Broadcast on Midcontinent Communications

Three upcoming Augustana men's and women's basketball doubleheaders will be broadcast by Midcontinent Communications as part of an agreement between the Augustana Athletic Department and Midcontinent Communications this past summer.

The first of the three doubleheaders to be televised on MC23 (cable channel 23 in Sioux Falls) will be next week's matchup between the Vikings and Winona State University on Saturday, January 17. The women's game tips off at 6 p.m. with the men's game to follow at 8 p.m. in the Elmen Center. The Winona State men are the defending NCAA Division II national champions and winners of two of the past three national titles.

In February, Midcontinent will televise Augustana's weekend series against the University of Mary and Northern State University. The Vikings take on U-Mary on Friday, February 20, before squaring off against instate rival Northern State on Saturday, February 21. Both doubleheaders will start at 6 p.m. with women's games and 8 p.m. with the men's contests.

The trio of televised basketball doubleheaders is part of an agreement between Augie athletics and Midcontinent Communications to televise seven Viking games during the 2008-09 season. In October, Midcontinent televised Augustana's Viking Days football game against Minnesota State University, Mankato.
