The Augustana wrestling team has dropped to No. 18 in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association's Top 20 Poll released today. The Vikings were ranked No. 14 in the 2008-09 Preseason Poll.
The Vikings most recently finished eighth out of 22 teams in the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. Augustana had 6 wrestlers who finished in the top 10 in their respective weight class at that meet.
Individually, Augustana's two returning All-Americas are among the top eight wrestlers in their respective weight class. Sophomore Ty Copsey is ranked fifth at 197 pounds. He currently holds an 11-5 record and placed second at the Midwest Classic last weekend. Meanwhile, senior Mike Long is ranked fifth at 149 pounds. Long has posted a 0-2 record so far this year.
