Box Score

Augustana stayed with Arizona for the entire game before falling to the Pac-10 power 92-76 Wednesday night in an exhibition game at the McKale Center in Tucson, Ariz.

The Vikings, who played without their top returning scorer David Foster, trailed 10-8 with 16:05 left in the first half, before Arizona went on an 11-0 run to take a 21-8 lead with 13:11 left in the half.

Augustana later trailed 33-15 with just under 8 minutes remaining in the half, but a 3-pointer by Jordan Dalton ignited 12-2 Augustana rally. Cody Schilling capped the rally with a pair of free throws to trim the deficit to 35-27 with 4:02 left in the half.

However, Arizona responded by scoring 7 unanswered points to push the lead to 42-27 as the Wildcats took a 50-34 lead at intermission.

In the second half, Augustana got off to a good start as the Vikings chipped away at the margin. A 3-pointer by freshman Cameron McCaffrey pulled Augie to within 13 at 64-51 with 13:37 left in the game. However it was as close as the Vikings would get the rest of the game.

But Arizona countered with a 16-9 run of its own to take its largest lead of the game at 80-60 with 7:42 to play in the contest.

Augustana shot 37.5 percent from the field, making 24 of 64 field goals. The Vikings made 7 of 19 3-pointers (36.8 percent) but struggled a little at the free throw line where they were 21 of 31 (67.7 percent).
The Vikings fared well against the taller, quicker Wildcats. Arizona outrebounded Augustana by a 41-34 margin. In the turnover battle, the Vikings turned the ball over 13 times, compared to 15 for the Wildcats.

Schilling led all scorers with 25 points. McCaffrey came off the bench to pour in 16 points, while Lee Stephens added 12 points.

Jamelle Horne scored a team-high 19 points for Arizona. Derrick Williams scored 14 points, while Nic Wise and Kevin Parrom each scored 12.
