The Augustana women's tennis team put up a strong fight against perennial Division III power Gustavus Adolphus, but the Vikings came up short falling 6-3 Saturday in St. Peter, Minn.
The highlight of the dual came at No. 1 doubles where
Emily Gaster and
Brittany Gaster trailed 5-0 and 7-2 before they fought off 6 match points to defeat Sierra Krebsbach and Mary Roop 9-7.
Emily Gaster also won her No. 1 singles match, blanking Krebsbach 6-0, 6-0. Augustana's other win came at No. 5 singles where
Adrienne Conley dropped the first set 6-0 before rallying to win the final two sets 6-3, 10-7.
In addition, Augustana dropped an 8-1 dual meet against North Dakota late Friday night.
Emily Gaster picked up the Vikings' only win as she defeated UND's Emily Callison 6-1, 7-5.
