The Augustana men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season with a 9-0 non-conference victory over Morningside Friday night at Sioux Empire Fitness.
Augustana improved to 1-3 on the season.
While the Vikings won all 9 matches, two of the singles matches went to super tiebreakers. At No. 2 singles,
Evan Gardner rallied from a set down to claim a 1-6, 6-4, 10-4 win over Reid Rosen.
Dane Rasmussen also needed to win a super tiebreaker as he defeated Dane Larson 6-2, 0-6, 10-7 at No. 3 singles.
At No. 4 singles
Neal Gregerson had an easier time in beating James Nitz 6-0, 6-0. Also,
JD Carrels easily downed Ian Sondag 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. Also winning their singles matches were
Jared Drenkow, who beat Matt Ford 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Ian Krueger, who edged Gustav Hollnagel 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Augustana now heads to Orlando, Fla., for its spring trip. The Vikings take on Onondaga Community College and St. Scholastica on Monday.
