The Augustana football team will open its spring football practices on Wednesday, first-year head coach
Mike Aldrich announced today.
The Vikings will conduct 14 practices during spring camp before concluding spring ball with the annual spring game on Friday, April 30, at 5:30 p.m. at Kirkeby-Over Stadium.
Spring practices will be held at Kirkeby-Over Stadium as well as the football practice fields located just south of the Elmen Center Practices begin at 3:50 p.m. and run until 5:50 p.m. Practices are open to the public.
Aldrich, who took over as the Vikings' head coach on February 19, will have 74 players go through practices. Among that group will be 46 letterwinners, including 15 starters (7 offense, 6 defense, 2 specialists).
Augustana posted an 8-4 overall record and a 7-3 record in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. It was the Vikings' second-straight 8-4 season and tied the school record for wins in a season. The Vikings tied for third place in the NSIC overall standings and were second in the NSIC Southern Division. Augustana capped its season by appearing in the Mineral Water Bowl for the second consecutive season.
