SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – A host of Augustana baseball players are charting successful summer seasons in various leagues around the Midwest.
Drew Heithoff headlines this group of six Viking athletes as he was recently selected to play in the Northwoods League All-Star Game set for July 20 in Eau Claire, Wis.
Heithoff, who was a junior with the Vikings this past season and plays for the Eau Claire Express, currently leads the Northwoods League in batting average (.420) and on-base percentage (.530). The Yankton, S.D., native was an All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference second team pick last spring after batting .328.

Nate Baumann, the 2010 NSIC Player of the Year, is also playing for the Express and is hitting .325—second behind Heithoff. A native of Marshall, Minn., Baumann led the NSIC in hitting (.476), slugging percentage (.857) and runs scored (55) in 2010. He will be a senior in 2011. The Express currently sit atop the South Division of the NWL.

Deryk Marks, the 2010 NSIC Newcomer of the Year, is playing with the St. Cloud River Bats, also of the NWL. He led the NSIC in runs batted in (54) and double (16) in 2010. The Cottage Grove, Minn., product is currently batting .270 for the River Bats.
Bret Severtson, who was a junior this past season, is seeing time with the Excelsior Spring Cougars of the Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas League. A native of Flandreau, S.D., Severtson currently owns a 1-2 record and has notched one save in regular season play. He also has posted a 2.25 ERA in regular season action.

Nate Hewes, who will be a sophomore in 2011, and Brain Voigt, who will play with the Vikings in 2011, are both playing for the Dodge City A's of the Jawyhawk League. Hewes, a native of Stillwater, Minn., is batting .260, while Voigt, who is from Adams, Minn., is batting .282.
