SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Head women's tennis coach
Marc Kurtz announced today that Meredith Lawrence, a native of Prior Lake, Minn., has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Augustana for the 2013-14 season.
Lawrence will graduate from Convent of the Visitation High School in 2013 as a four-year letterwinner. She played the No. 1 singles position and was a team captain as a senior where she went 20-5 and earned third place in section 3AA. Lawrence is a four-time all-conference selection and has been named her team's MVP four times during her career. She has appeared in three state tournaments in her career and placed fourth in the state doubles tournament as a junior. She has won three section championships, posting an individual record of 75-14 during her high school career.
"Meredith is a great addition to the Augustana tennis team,” Kurtz said. “We are thrilled to have her sign and become a Viking. Meredith is an excellent tennis player and an outstanding student and we look forward to seeing her on the court next fall."
Augustana made an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2011-12 finishing 18-4 overall and went undefeated in the NSIC, for the third straight season, at 10-0, earning its third straight conference championship.
Located in Sioux Falls, S.D., Augustana College is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
