Augustana has 12 named All-NSIC; Karbo tabbed men's track athlete of the year

BURNSVILLE, Minn.
- The 2012 All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference performers were determined at last week's outdoor conference meet ,and Augustana placed 12 athletes on the list. The top-three place winners in each event receive all-conference accolades.

Tom Karbo was named the NSIC Men's Track Athlete of the Year after setting three school records this outdoor season and running the second fastest time in Division II in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (8.44.37) to automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships. He also provisional qualified for nationals in the 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters. Karbo won the 5,000 meters at the conference championships in a time of 15:23.40 to earn his fourth outdoor title. The junior from Stord, Norway, received NSIC Track Athlete of the Week nods twice in 2012 for a total of six times in his career.

Paul Yak was All-NSIC in three events. He won the 10,000-meter run and placed second in both the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 5,000-meter run.

The Vikings will travel to Pueblo, Colo., on May 24 for the NCAA Championship.
