Vikings drop in national poll

NEW ORLEANS
- The Augustana men dropped in the national poll and are No. 25 in the latest rankings released Tuesday by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. In the regional rankings, the Viking women remained No. 9 and the men fell to No. 8.

Augustana's men's and women's track and field squads each finished third at the 2012 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Outdoor Championships last Saturday. Tom Karbo was named the NSIC Men's Track Athlete of the Year.

Aduo Omot is the top-ranked runner in Division II in the men's 800-meter run (1:48.51), and Tom Karbo is second in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase (8:44.37) and 10th in the men's 5,000 meters (14:08.27). Kristin Brondbo is ranked 10th in the women's 1,500 meters (4:26.44) and Kyle Blakeslee is fourth in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:18.71).

The Vikings will travel to Pueblo, Colo., on May 24 for the NCAA Championship.
