More all-region honors for Hansen, Borchardt

DAKTRONICS ALL-CENTRAL REGION

ST. PAUL, Minn.
- Derek Hansen is a first-team selection and David Borchardt is a second-team pick on the 2012 Daktronics All-Central Region team released Thursday.

The Daktonics all-region team is voted on by Central Region sports information directors.  The Central Region is comprised of schools in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Hansen, a junior from Fergus Falls, Minn., was the NSIC Pitcher of the Year and an all-conference first-team selection at both pitcher and first base. The right-hander went 7-4 with a 1.60 earned-run average this season, striking out a school-record 103 batters in just 67.2 innings. Opponents were limited to a .181 batting average, and he allowed just one home run all year. He was also named the region pitcher of the year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association earlier this week.

A junior from St. Michael, Minn., Borchardt was named All-NSIC second team earlier this month.  He batted .335 with 14 doubles and a team-best 14 homers.  Borchardt also drove in 37 runs and stole 11 bases.  Additionally, he was an all-region second-team pick by the NCBWA and Rawlings/ABCA.

Concordia University, St. Paul's Bryan Lippincott was named the region's player of the year, and Colorado Mesa's Jared Christensen was tabbed the pitcher of the year.

As a first-team selection, Hansen advances to the Daktronics All-America ballot.

Augustana compiled its third-straight 30-win season in 2012, finishing 32-21.  The Vikings tied for fourth in the NSIC with a conference mark of 22-12.
