BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana's
Katie Jesperson,
Michelle Wadas,
Hannah Gebauer,
Liz Lewis and
Heather Sullivan have been named All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the league announced Wednesday.
Jesperson and Wadas were named to the singles All-NSIC first team, and the pair also earned doubles All-NSIC first team nods as partners at the No. 1 spot. Gebauer was a singles All-NSIC second-team honoree, while Lewis and Sullivan were selected singles All-NSIC honorable mention. Gebauer and Sullivan also earned a spot on the doubles All-NSIC second team.
Jesperson, a sophomore from Elk River, Minn., compiled a 14-3 overall singles record as Augustana's No. 1. She finished the season with four wins in a row, earning a victory in last Sunday's Central Region Tournament against Colorado Mesa.
A junior from Fort Collins, Colo., Wadas led the team in singles wins during the season with 19. Thirteen of her victories came at the No. 2 spot. Wadas finished NSIC action undefeated with a 9-0 record and went 3-0 during postseason action.
The duo of Jesperson and Wadas finished the season 14-7 together. The pair went 7-2 in conference matches and charted a 2-0 record at the NSIC Tournament.
Gebauer, a native of Sioux Falls, went 16-3 this season, primarily playing No. 3. The junior went 8-0 in NSIC duals and 1-0 at the conference tournament. Gebauer also won her match at the Central Region Tournament.
A sophomore from Raymore, Mo., Lewis opened the season with 14 straight wins. She charted an 18-5 record during the season, mostly playing No. 5, and had a 9-1 mark during conference matches.
A native of Mankato, Minn., Sullivan went 17-5 during her freshman campaign and posted a 9-1 NSIC record. She mainly played No. 4 for the Vikings.
The No. 2 doubles duo of Gebauer and Sullivan finished the season 20-2 to lead the team in wins and they didn't drop a conference match all season (10-0). The pair opened the season with 16-straight wins and went 2-0 at the conference tournament
The Vikings finished 2011-12 18-4 overall went undefeated (10-0) in NSIC action to earn their third-straight conference crown. Augustana won the conference tournament and advanced to the NCAA Championships, but a 5-4 loss to Colorado Mesa last Sunday ended the Vikings' season.
