Goihl earns NSIC Player of the Week honors

BURNSVILLE, Minn. –
Augustana sophomore catcher Jack Goihl was named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week the league announced Monday.

Goihl, a native of Robbinsdale, Minn., had a big week for the Vikings going 10-for-16 at the plate with a .625 batting average and an .813 slugging percentage, while scoring 10 runs. Of his 10 hits, Goihl cracked three doubles and also drove in 10 runs.

In the first game of a doubleheader against Minnesota Crookston on Saturday, Goihl went 3-for-3 while driving in three runs before going 2-for-2 in game two with a double and three RBI. Goihl is now batting .354 on the season with five doubles and 22 RBI.

Goihl is the second Viking to earn player of the week honors from the NSIC this season. Derek Quame was named the league's pitcher of the week on Feb. 12.

Augustana returns to action on Wednesday afternoon, hosting Minot State University in a doubleheader beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Karras Park Home of Ronken Field.
