SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The 21st ranked Vikings of Augustana will look to put the frustrations of Tuesday's four-set loss to No. 6 Wayne State behind them, as they host Minot State and the University of Mary on Friday and Saturday.
Brittany Cech had a career match on Tuesday, setting a career high in digs with 35. Her previous career high was 24 set back on Sept. 19, 2013. Offensively Cech was in a groove tying her career high in kills at 16. She has notched 16 kills in a match four times now in her career, with her last matching the feat last back on Nov. 8, 2014.
Augustana is currently 14-6 on the season, with a 7-5 record in the NSIC. They have played well at home this season, posting an 8-2 record in the Elmen Center. Playing in the brutal NSIC has forced the Vikings to face teams ranked inside the AVCA Top-25 almost every week. In matches against teams ranked in the top-25 the Vikings are 3-5.
Tahlyr Banks continues to lead the NSIC in digs per set average and total digs. Banks currently has a digs per set average of 5.51 and 402 total digs through 20 matches this season. Along with leading the NSIC, Banks finds herself ranked amongst the best in the nation. Banks currently ranks 28th in the nation in digs per set average. The leader is a freshman with an average of 7.09 digs per set in 68 sets played. Banks accumulated 50 digs in a five-set loss to Washburn during the first week of the season. Those 50 digs stills ranks as the most by any player this season.
