Defending national champs set for exhibition match-up with Duke on Friday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana University men's basketball is set to open its 95th season on Friday, Nov. 4 with its lone exhibition game of the year. The Vikings will travel to Durham, North Carolina to take on preseason No. 1 Duke at historic Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Vikings and Blue Devils will tip-off at 7 p.m. (CT) on the ACC Network which is available on Watch ESPN, HERE.

Augustana will help carry on the tradition of Duke playing the previous year's NCAA Division II National Champion in an exhibition game. Mike Krzyzewski and his Blue Devils began inviting the national championship team in NCAA Division II to play in an exhibition game in 2009. Augustana will be the eighth Division II national championship team to get the call for a preseason game at Cameron Indoor, joining Findlay (2009), Cal Poly Pomona (2010), Bellarmine (2011), Western Washington (2012), Drury (2013), Central Missouri (2014) and Florida Southern (2015).

The exhibition game will offer Viking fans one more chance to celebrate the fruits of last year's National Title while getting their first look at the 2016-17 squad. Over the last two seasons, Augustana posted a 65-5 record while winning back-to-back NSIC Regular Season and Tournament Championships.

A HISTORY OF AUGUSTANA'S EXHIBITION GAMES AGAINST DIVISION I OPPONENTS
• Friday night's game will be Augustana's 11th exhibition game against an NCAA Division I opponent since 2004-05

• The Vikings were in the national spotlight at the beginning of the 2015-16 season after defeating the University of Iowa in an exhibition game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Nov. 6
