SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana University head men's basketball coach
Tom Billeter announced Thursday the signing of Adam Dykman (Fremont, Nebraska) to a letter of intent to continue his academic and basketball career at Augustana.
Dykman, a 6-foot-7, 225-pound forward, is transferring to Augustana from South Dakota State and will be a sophomore in 2017-18 for the Vikings. Dykman played in nine games for the Jackrabbits as a redshirt freshman in 2016-17 after sitting out the 2015-16 season as a redshirt.
"Adam is a very strong and athletic player," Billeter said. "He has a tremendous upside and we are excited to have him in our program. Adam has always been a winner and we know he is hungry to play. He has three years remaining which is exciting and we can't wait to get him on campus and working with our team."
He is a 2015 graduate of Archbishop Bergan High School where he was a four-year letterwinner. Dykman was named Nebraska's Mr. Basketball in 2015 after averaging 22.9 points, 12.1 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game as a senior while helping his team to a third-place finish in the state. He set single season records for rebounds (326) and free throws made (194) as a senior. Dykman graduated with a school record 720 career rebounds and the best 3-point field goal percentage (.423) in school history.
Dykman was named to the
Omaha World Herald Super State First Team honors following his senior season while also earning Class C-2 Captain honors to go along with a Mr. Basketball honor from NebraskaHShoops.com. He averaged 16.6 points and 7.7 rebounds leading his team to a Nebraska Class C-2 state title junior season. Dykman earned all-state honors and was a named to the state all-tournament team as a junior. He earned letters in football and track and field and was a member of the Key Club, peer ministry and student council at Archbishop Bergan.
Augustana made its 14th overall and third straight NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016-17. The Vikings finished 24-9, advancing to the NCAA Central Region Tournament semifinals for the third straight year. Augustana has now won 20-plus games seven times in the last 10 years, including three straight seasons.
Located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Augustana University is a member of NCAA Division II and competes in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
