BROOKINGS, S.D. - Freshman
Callie DeWitt went out on Friday and proved she can compete with the best of the best. On day one of the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings, S.D. DeWitt went out a set three personal records, including lowering her own school record in the 60-meters.
In the preliminaries of the 60-meters, DeWitt lowered her school record with a time of 7.68 which was also a provisionally qualifying mark. DeWitt and
Alaina Klapperich (7.95) advanced to the 60-meter semis that will be raced tomorrow.
DeWitt also set personal records in the long jump and the 200-meters. In the long jump, DeWitt finished in second with a mark of 5.56-meters. In the 200-meters she took 17th with a mark of 25.67.
Augustana advanced five student-athletes in the 60-meter hurdles. In the women's race,
Valerie Gildemaster (8.96) and
Selin Dikmen (9.23) moved on with top-20 finishes in the prelims.
Paul Meloche (8.46),
Dylon Van't Hof (8.52) and
Evan Ward (8.57) advanced on the men's side. Meloche also set a personal best in the 200-meters with a time of 22.72.
In distance races,
Emily Tromp set a personal record in the 1000-meters with a time of 2:56.43.
Wyatt McLeod set a personal best time in the 3000-meters with a time of 8:29.17.
In field events,
Kendra Ludeman set a personal record mark in the high jump with a leap of 1.64-meters.
Matt Pohlmann took seventh in the pole vault with a mark of 4.40-meters.
The Vikings return to Brookings, S.D. for day two of the SDSU Indoor Classic tomorrow, Feb. 10. Running events will begin at 9 a.m. and field events will start at 11 a.m.
