SIOUX FALLS, S.D. --The  Augustana Women's Basketball program has announced the addition of Alex (Feeney) Nissen to its coaching staff, head coach Dave Krauth announced Monday.

Nissen, a 2013 graduate of Augustana, returns to her alma mater after coaching stints with South Dakota State, Central College and Roosevelt High School.

"Alex is an ideal addition to our staff and basketball program." coach Krauth said. "Not only has she distinguished herself as a standout player during her career at Augie, but she has also gained valuable experiences coaching at several levels of basketball."

As a student-athlete for coach Krauth and the Vikings, Nissen was a four year starter and tallied 1,723 points to go along with 828 rebounds. She was named the NSIC Freshman of the Year during the 2009-10 season and earned first team All-NSIC honors her junior and senior seasons.

"I am thrilled to be back at Augustana. Coach Krauth and his teams have had such a long standing tradition of success on and off the court," Nissen said. "I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to join his staff and help contribute to such a prestigious program. It feels a little like coming home."

Nissen earned a bachelor's degree from Augustana in elementary education in the spring of 2013, then went on and received her master's degree from South Dakota State in sports and recreational studies in 2015.

Alex currently resides in Sioux Falls with her husband, Matt.
