Tanner Brown Earns NSIC Pitcher of the Week Honors

BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Augustana baseball's Tanner Brown is the NSIC's Pitcher of the Week the conference office announced Monday. The junior guided the Vikings to a game two win against No. 21 ranked Arkansas Monticello last Saturday.

The Sioux Falls native got the start for the Vikings against the Boll Weevils in game two, a seven-inning affair, of Saturday's doubleheader and delivered five innings of shutout baseball. In his five innings, the southpaw struck out five hitters while only allowing two walks and two hits, none of which went for extra bases.

Brown's strong performance last weekend comes after a fantastic 2019 campaign that featured a 7-2 record with a 3.17 ERA in 71 innings. He led the Vikings in strikeouts with 84 and held his opponents to a .224 batting average. Brown also led the NSIC in backward Ks last season.

Brown and the Vikings return to action in a couple of weekends against Emporia State, in Emporia, Kansas.
