Bill Olson came to Augustana from Sioux Falls Washington High School, where he helped Warrior basketball teams to third place and runner-up finishes in the state Class A basketball tournament.
He wore Augustana uniforms in baseball and basketball, earning three varsity letters in each sport.
In his senior year Olson played a major role in Augustana's march to a share of the 1961-62 North Central Conference basketball crown. He was the Vikings' third leading scorer behind Phil Miedema and Dave McCracken and the second leading rebounder behind McCracken.
On the baseball field Olson played first base and was also part of coach Ken Kessinger's pitching rotation.
Olson graduated from Augustana in 1962. In 1963 he earned a master's degree at George Williams College in Chicago.
