The next year he set the school indoor record for 3,000 meters with a time of 8 minutes, 31.24 seconds. The mark stood for 19 years.

He reigned as the NCC's indoor 5,000-meter champion in 1991 and 1992. He achieved All-America status by placing third in the 5,000 meters at the 1992 NCAA Division II indoor championships. In 1992 he set the school for the indoor 5,000 with a time of 14:34.24. His All-America efforts included cross country when he finished 17th at the 1991 NCAA gathering.

His classroom accomplishments included All-Conference and All-America academic recognition. He was an Augustana Dean's List student and graduated in 1992 with Magna Cum Laude distinction.
