Brothers Clifford and Sherman Anderson were two of the first athletes at Augustana College. Clifford was a fullback on the first Augustana football team in 1920 and captain of the 1925 squad. He and Sherman started together on the offensive line of the 1923 football team. Clifford was named first-team all-conference, while Sherman was chosen to the third-team. The brothers threw discus in track.
Clifford graduated from the Augustana Academy in 1921 and received a B.A. degree in 1926 with a major in chemistry. In addition to athletics, he was a member of the Demosthenian Literary Society, "A" Club, Treasurer of the Luther League and circulation manager for the Mirror. After graduating from Augustana, he taught one year in Baltic, S.D., and one year in the Uehling, Neb. He then farmed a 26-year career of managing the Co-op in Uehling, where he was also mayor.

Sherman graduated from the Academy in 1922 and later received his B.A. in chemistry. He worked for International Harvester after graduation and in 1939 became sales representative for Allis Chalmers Farm Equipment Co. He was promoted to regional sales manager in 1958 and vice president in 1964. He retired in 1969. Both are deceased.
