Davor Rukavina came to Augustana from Yugoslavia, and had no problem adjusting to basketball American style. Most sportscasters and game announcers had trouble adjusting to pronouncing his name correctly.

As a Viking, Davor scored 1100 points from 1972-1976 and currently stands 17th on the college's career list. He is 10th on the school's career rebound list with 714. He was All-NCC in both 1973 and 1974 and was named to the All-Lutheran team also in 1974. In 1975, he was a key player on the first Augie team to earn a berth in the NCAA-Division II playoffs.

His coach Mel Klein wrote, "He was truly an impact player. Davor made an immediate contribution to Augustana basketball, and was a force to be reckoned with in the NCC."

In writing about a win at USD in the New Armory, Davor said, "I have never seen anybody as happy as Mel Klein after the game." Davor also reflects that "Larry Borgum was always nice, positive, helpful," and that he himself was influenced by all the faculty and administration during his days at Augie.

Davor graduated from Augustana in 1976 and earned his master's degree in computer technology from DePaul University in 1991.
