Leverson was one of Augie's first four sport lettermen and, including two years while attending the school's high school department, competed for six years here. His career began in 1921 when he participated in football, basketball, baseball and track. Beginning in 1922 he became a five year fixture at end for the Vikings, earning honorable mention recognition in 1924 aqnd second team honors in 1925.

He was captain of the 1924 football Vikings who compiled a 7-1 record. He earned basketball letters for four years beginning in 1923 and teamed with Hall of Famers Rau and Leif Fjellestad in track. Leverson capped his athletic career as a slick fielding shortstop-third baseman from 1922-27 by beginning his diamond career with a three hit day and closing it out with a home run in his final game against a Sons of Norway team.
