Jay Kirsch was named to the All-North Central Conference baseball team in 1996, 1997, and 1999. He is one of three Augustana players to make the NCC honor squad three times. A right-handed pitcher, Kirsch posted a 4-1 record in league play in 1996, and in 1997 led the conference in saves with five. In 1997 his 13 appearances was the most in the conference. He was 7-2 for all games in 1996 with a 3.44 earned run average. Among his wins was a five-hit gem against South Dakota State University. He led the Vikings in innings pitched in 1999 (50), posted a 3-4 record with a 2.90 earned run average. In a 1997 playoff game, Kirsch tossed 3½ innings of relief in Augustana’s 4-3 win against North Dakota State University.
