Jeff Gross joins the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

Jeff credits Vance Butler and Rob Kinnunen for their year-round training and guidance in helping him become an indoor Division II national champ and to participate in the 1984 Olympic Trials in Los Angeles. He is the only athlete in Augustana history to qualify for the Olympic Trials.

When Jeff graduated from Augie in 1985, he was the holder of eight indoor/outdoor track records. He owns the all-time South Dakota collegiate record of 45.54 seconds for 400 meters plus NCC indoor records for 300 and 400 meters. He was the NCC indoor 300 meter champion and the NCC outdoor 400 meter champion three times each. 

Five times Jeff was a Division II All-American; he also earned Division I All-America honors once. He was MVP of the Howard Wood Relays in 1984, most outstanding athlete in 1985, and the 1984 Citizen of the Year for him hometown of Canton, SD. In addition, he was the 1984 Viking Days King.

Jeff has been a field training officer and a SWAT officer with the San Diego Police Department. He is the recipient of the "most physically fit' award in the SDPD Academy, and holds the record for the 400-meter dash in his age bracket in the World Police and Fire Games.
