Jim Egge of the Class of 1970 was a three-year letterwinner in football and track.

As a flanker, he was the leading pass receiver in the North Central Conference in 1969, catching 31 passes for 389 yards. He was also selected to the all-NCC team and received Little All-American Honorable Mention honors. During his junior and senior seasons, Jim caught 88 passes for 1035 yards, an average of 11.7 and 10 touchdowns.

With the track team he ran on relay teams that set 440- and 880-yard school records. He was second in the NCC in the 200-meter dash in 1968 and 1969. He was unable to compete in the 1970 meet because of an injury.

A biology major, Jim later obtained a master's degree in physical education from South Dakota State Univeristy. Egge returned to Augustana in 1974 as a member of the athletic staff, serving as assistant football coach and head track coach until 1984.
