A record-setting quarterback... a color commentator... a parole officer... Those combine to describe John Schultz, a 1986 graduate.

As a junior in 1984, he was honorable mention All-NCC and as a senior he was first team All-NCC for his ability to throw the football. His many records set during his career have only dropped one notch in the fourteen seasons since he wore jersey #9.

John is second on the career charts with 998 attempts and 503 completions, for a total of 6881 passing yards. A little math tells you he averaged nearly 14 yards per pass. He is also second in career total offense with 7444 yards, offensive plays in a season with 429 and career plays with 1439. As a freshman in 1982, he made his first start against SDSU and was 21-of-37 for 190 yards as the Vikes won 13-10. John wrote of two other memorable games; against UNO as a senior, he ran 66 yards for a touchdown. Also as a senior, he had 350 yards passing and 24 completions against the Coyotes when they were ranked #1 in Division II.
