Augustana University Athletics

Rogness, who had starred at Sioux Falls Washington High for Coach Burns, became a fixture at center for the Vikings during the 1955-57 seasons. Burns called the student-athlete a "great team man." He was Augustana's student body president, Viking Days chairman and the second vice president of the International Young People's Luther League. He earned recognition as a Rhodes Scholar and was returning from his studies at Oxford in August of 1960 when he was killed in a St. Paul car-pedestrian accident near his home.
