Scott Ecklund became the first Viking wreslter to record 12 victories in a season as a sophomore in 1975-76 and went on to earn All-American status in the NCAA Divions II tournament.
His fourth-place finish at 190 pounds in the NCAA Division II tournament the following season helped the Vikings to a second place finish.
During his senior year, Ecklund was the only wrestler in the nation to be selected for an NCAA postgraduate scholarship.
In addition to serving on the Men's Senate during his senior year, Scott was named to the Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities. The following year, Scott served as an assistant coach for the wrestling team.
