Each year the Drake Relays attract some of the top track athletes in the world. In 1995 Augustana College left it's mark on the track world by winning two relay events. Tom Dow anchored both teams to score victories in the 1,600-meter and 3,200-meter relays. He considered the 3,200 relay one of his most memorable moments,"My most memorable event would have to be getting the baton almost 200 meters behind the leader. I began picking off runners one by one and passed the lead runner on the final home stretch for the win."
Tom was a 12-time All-American. During his time at Augustana, he set school records for 800 meters outdoors (1:48:89) and indoors (1:47:97). He was the North Central Conference 800-meter outdoor champion three consecutive years and helped Augustana dominate the event from 1993 to 1997. He anchored the Vikings to consecutive NCC outdoor 1,600-meter relay titles in 1994 and 1995. At the NCC indoor championships in 1995 he won the 800 and anchored the Vikings' winning 1,600-meter relay team. His time in the 800 (1:50:88) is an NCC record.
He also anchored the Vikings' 1,600-meter relays teams to school records indoors (3:10:88) and outdoors (3:10:26). In 1996 he qualified/ran the open 800 meters at the Olympic Trials in Atlanta, GA.
