The Augustana baseball team completed a series sweep of Concordia-St. Paul thanks to a strong offensive performance. The Vikings won 14-13 and 5-3, hitting 8 homeruns on the day. 

The wins improve Augie to 15-9 overall and 4-0 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. It also extends their winning-streak to seven games. 

The Golden Bears fall to 7-12 and 0-4 in the conference. 

The Vikings started out with a big first inning, scoring four runs. Drew Heithoff hit a single to left center and Deryk Marks singled up the left side. Charlie Dubanoski hit his second home run in as many days, giving Augie the 3-0 lead. A homer by the next batter, Dan Morrison, gave the Vikings the 4-0 lead. 

The Golden Bears answered quickly, scoring four runs in the top of the second inning, but Augie's bats stayed hot as they scored three more in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead 7-4. The runs came off of a blast by Marks, which scored Brian Knight and Nate Hewes, who both singled to get on base. 

Concordia-St. Paul scored two more runs in the third off of back-to-back solo homeruns by Logan Bouts and Sam Fagley. 

Morrison belted his second homerun of the day as he led off the bottom of the third. This kept the Vikings in the lead, 8-6. 

Each team scored four more runs in the fourth inning. Augie's runs came as Hewes singled and then was brought in on a homerun by Nate Baumann. Heithoff was walked before Dubanoski chalked up his second bomb of the day, making the score 12-10 in favor of the Vikings. 

The Golden Bears took their first lead of the game in the sixth inning. Fagley singled to left field and Ty Hall followed him with a single up the middle. A homer by Bryan Lippencott put Concordia-St. Paul ahead 13-12. 

The Vikings still kept up the offense though, with Derek Hansen doubling to left center. Nate Alfson then sent one over the left center fence, giving the Vikings the 14-13 edge at the end of seven. 

Neither team was able to score again, giving the Vikings the victory. 

The Vikings ended the game with 15 hits and seven home runs. Hewes was 3 for 3 while Morrison was 2 for 3 with both of his hits being homers. 

Alfson was credited with the win as he went two innings and allowed three runs on three hits. 

Severtson gets his third save of the season, only allowing one hit in one inning of work. 

The Golden Bears struck first in the second game, when Lippencott led off with a double, advanced on a wild pitch and then scored on a groundout by Brenden Furrow. 

The Vikings weren't behind for long though, scoring three runs in the second inning. Dubanoski led off with a double and then scored on a double by Morrison. A single by Gates Cook advanced Morrison before he scored on a single by Jose Martinez. A single by Hewes scored Cook and put Augie up 3-1. 

Each team scored one run in the third, with Augie's coming off of a homerun by Marks. Augie also scored one run in the fourth thanks to a Golden Bear error. 

Concordia-St. Paul would put one more run on the board in the fifth as Lippencott doubled and then scored on a single by JT Schneider. 

Marks was 2 for 4 with two RBI and a home run. Morrison and Hewes were both 2 for 3 with one RBI. 

Grant Larson (3-0) earned the win. He went 5.2 innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits. He struck out five batters. 

Severtson recorded his second save of the day, bringing him to four on the season. 

The Vikings will be back in action this Tuesday against the University of Sioux Falls. Game will be at Ronken Field at 3:30 p.m.
