BURNSVILLE, Minn. - Augustana's
Alex Feeney,
Shaunteva Ashley, and
Riley Nordgaard all were honored by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with postseason awards.
Feeney earned her second-consecutive All-NSIC first team honors and was selected to the all-defensive team as well. Ashley earned second team honors and Nordgaard was placed on the all-freshman team.
A senior forward, Feeney repeats as an All-NSIC performer after averaging team-highs in points and rebounds. Feeney's conference averages of 15.6 points and 7.5 rebounds both rank in the top 10 in the NSIC. Feeney's three-point field goal percentage also checks in at No. 10 with a mark of 40.5 percent.
For Feeney's career, she currently sits at fifth in career points (1,639) and seventh in rebounds (781). She is also in the top three in both three-point percentage and free throw percentage while starting the second-most games in Augustana's history (120) and playing in the seventh-most.
On the defensive side, Feeney racked up 27 blocked shots in conference play and also accumulated 15 steals. Feeney's career mark of 144 blocked shots is fourth all-time and is just five behind third place.
Ashley, the reigning NSIC Freshman of the Year, earned second team honors in her sophomore season. The second-leading scorer on the Vikings, Ashley averaged 11.1 points ranking in the top 30 in the conference. It wasn't Ashley's scoring that earned her the spot on the all-conference squad.
Playing both point guard and off the ball, Ashley dished out a team-high 106 assists this season while limiting her turnovers to just 56 while playing 32.1 minutes per game. In conference play, her assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.27 was the highest in the NSIC and her overall a/t ratio of 1.89 ranked 28th in NCAA Division II.
Nordgaard, a freshman guard from Canby, Minn. made an immediate impact with the Vikings. She finished second on the team with two double-doubles. She averaged 6.2 points and 5.0 rebounds. On five occasions, Nordgaard led the Vikings in rebounding.
The Vikings will face Concordia-St. Paul in the NSIC/Sanford Health Women's Basketball Tournament Semifinals in Rochester, Minn. on Friday, March 8 at 5 p.m.
