SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- It's known as one of the largest races in the region, and on Friday at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, the Augustana Twilight officially marks the start of the Viking cross country season. More than 65 high school teams and 25 college programs will attend. In total, nearly 5,000 participants, coaches, and fans are expected to attend on Friday evening.  

A number of new features will improve the fan experience, including shirt vendors from Runners Block, additional restrooms, and four food vendors: Kettle Corn, Shaved Ice, Yellow Submarine, and Backyard BBQ. 

A year ago, Augustana placed third in the women's race and 4th on the men's side. In the USTFCCCA preseason poll released last week, the Augustana men ranked ninth in the nation and the women checked in 10th.

Key information 

• Admission to the park for the event is $10 per vehicle.  Fans and spectators will be asked to pay on entry to the park.
• Fans are encouraged to carpool or arrive by alternate means of transportation as entry by vehicle will be shut down once all parking spaces are full.
• The only entrance into the event is the Westbound lane on 57th St.
• Information packets can be picked up at the competition site starting at 5 p.m.

• 6 p.m. - JV Girls 4K
• 6:40 p.m. - JV Boys 4K
• 7:20 p.m. Varsity Girls 5K
• 8 p.m. - Varsity Boys 5K
• 8:30 p.m. - College Women 5K
• 9 p.m. - College Men Four Mile
