Construction continues on Kirkeby-Over Stadium located on the south campus. Augustana's new football stadium will provide seating for approximately 4,200 fans on the west stands and another 2,000 on the east bleachers. An additional 800 fans can be accommodated on the berms behind the north and south end zones. Reserve your seats in the Stadium as a benefit of your membership in the Augustana Athletic Club.

Expected date of completion is summer 2009, with the first game on Saturday, September 5, at 1 p.m. against Emporia State (Kan.).

This $11 million facility has been made possible by the generosity of Bob and Kari Hall and others who have long dreamed of bringing football back to campus after a 52-year hiatus. The Vikings played their home games at Howard Wood Field on the city's north side since 1957.

Sitting atop the seating on the west side are eight suites on the first level and two on the upper level, press boxes for radio, television and print media, home and visiting coaching staffs, statisticians, scoreboard/video board operations and public address announcer. Located underneath the stands on the west side will be the Kirby Golf Center, an indoor practice facility.

The stadium's south end will occupy a state-of-the-art Daktronics scoreboard that measures 67' wide by 39' feet high. It will contain a high-definition video screen.

Visitors to the site have already proclaimed that next to the University of Minnesota's new TCF Bank Stadium and other regional major college football stadiums in Iowa and Nebraska, Kirkeby-Over will be the finest outdoor football stadium in a five-state area. When combined with existing Ronken and Bowden Fields (baseball and softball), the indoor Bill Hall Baseball/Softball Complex, the Elmen Center, Hall Football Complex and Sanford Practice Gymnasium, new Soccer Field and a plan for the Larson Track and Field Complex, Augustana will have one of the top on-campus athletic complexes in the upper midwest.
