WALNUT, Calif. – The Augustana College track and field team showcased their talent on day two in California with four Vikings and the women's 4x400 squad provisionally qualifying on Friday.
A group of athletes competed at day two of the 57th annual Mt. Sac Relays, while another group participated in the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific University.
Irene Almarcha once again showcased her talent in the 110-meter hurdles on day-two of the Mt. Sac Relays. The sophomore provisionally qualified with a time of 14.23 to take 31st-place. The women's 4x400 squad of
Carina Hofmeister,
Charissa Etrheim,
Kayla Mescher, and
Anne Parsley clocked a provisional time of 3:48.48.
Kaitlyn Yoerg was the lone runner in the women's 1,500-meter run at Mt. Sac. placing 55th with a personal-best time of 4:36.39.
Harald Karbo closed-out competition at the Mt. Sac Relays placing eighth in the men's steeplechase. The Stord, Norway native provisionally qualified with a time of 8:56.82.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific University.
Adam Braun took the top mark in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase recording a new personal-best time. The senior provisionally qualified with a time of 9:02.22 to highlight day one.
Ryan Heuer competed in two events at the Bryan Clay Invitational starting with the men's 110-meter hurdles. Heuer took 10th place with a time of 15:18, followed by clocking a time of 55:02 in the 400-meter hurdles to take 19th-place.
In the women's high jump,
Kelsey Kaufmann cleared 1.63 meters (5 feet, 4.25 inches) to take 12th-place.
In the women's 1,500-meter run,
Emma Anderson won her heat with a new personal-best time of 4:46.65 placing 96th.
Meritxell Delgado clocked a time of 17:34.46 in the women's 5k.
Paul Yak closed-out competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational competing in the men's 5k. The senior from Storm Lake, Iowa provisionally qualified with a personal-best time of 14:21.31 to place third overall, as the highest Division II finisher.
Keegan Carda and
Glen Ellingson rounded-out the trio placing 24th and 26th, respectively.
The Vikings will compete at the Long Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State on Saturday.
