Olivia Montez Brown won the pentathlon at the MSU Open on Friday with a personal best 3,808 points. Montez Brown’s total in the pentathlon is the top mark in the NSIC and the third best total in Division II. Montez Brown finished first in the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump. Montez Brown raced to a time of 8.79 in the 60-meter hurdles and had a leap of 18-10 in the long jump, good for a foot further than the rest of the competition. Montez Brown also took second in the high jump and the 800-meters and finished third in the shot put. In the high jump, Montez Brown set a personal record with a mark of 5-04.25 and had a season best time in the 800-meters with a time of 2:25.67.
