Augustana Volleyball Team Drops Four Game Match With No. 17 Minnesota-Duluth

Home court advantage made all the difference as the No. 21 Augustana women's volleyball team split their season series with the No. 17 University of Minnesota-Duluth after losing in four games 25-20, 21-25, 25-18, 25-13 Saturday night.

After beating Duluth in four games earlier in the season, the Vikings move to 20-10 overall and 12-5 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, while the Bulldogs move to 22-8 overall and 13-5 in the NSIC.

Duluth was led by April Hansen who had a match-high 18 kills, and Sarah Wyffels and Jamie Lakatos who both recorded 14 kills. Katie Gangelhoff had 54 assist for the four game match.

Cayla Schroeder and Kati Newgard led the way for Augie as they both recorded 11 kills in the match. Newgard also had a team-high 10 digs in the match, while Lisa Hoegh had 43 assists.

Beth Talcott and Ellen Andrews also recorded double digit kill totals on Saturday, as they both had 10 kills.

The Vikings will have a shorter break than usual between their next match as they face No. 23 Wayne State (22-7, 11-6 NSIC)  at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in the Elmen Center.
