The Augustana women's basketball team lost their second game in as many days as they fell to Northern State 53-64 Saturday night in Aberdeen, S.D. With the loss, Augustana drops to 4-3 on the season, and Northern moves to 5-1.
Augustana was plagued by poor shooting throughout the first half, shooting just 19.4 percent (6 for 31) from the field and were 5 for 10 from the free throw line. This put the Vikings down 32-18 at halftime.
The Vikings battled back in the second half, and a tip-in by
Dani Arens with 11:37 left in the game cut the Northern lead to 4. That was the closest the Vikings would come to the lead and Northern walked off the court with the 9-point victory.
Arens recorded a double-double, scoring 14 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. She was the only Viking to score in double figures.
Krista Rabenburg paced the Wolves with 14 points and Jenna Higgins added 13. Jodi Reinschmidt recorded a double-double of her own with 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Augustana will next travel to Wayne, Neb., next Saturday to take on the Wayne State Wildcats. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
