Box Score

The Augustana women's basketball team dropped their second game this season to the No. 17 Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons and did it for the second time in similar fashion losing 75-67 Friday night in Moorhead, Minn.

Augustana, who lost 79-66 to the Dragons earlier in the season, had their five-game winning streak snapped Friday night as the team now sits at 9-4 overall and 3-3 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play, while the Dragons move ahead to a 12-2 overall and 4-3 in NSIC action.

The first four minutes of play in Friday's game was a sign of things to come for Augie, as the Dragons had an answer for every run the Vikings made in the game.

Augustana got off to a quick five point lead early in the first half, but the Dragons responded with a 7-0 run to put the score in favor of the Dragons at 8-6. Augustana worked to get the lead back at 13-10, but Moorhead went on a 16-0 run to take a 26-13 lead at the 9:31 mark in the first half.

Moorhead kept matching the Vikings all half long, with the Vikings going into halftime down 44-33.

The Dragons used five three pointers and a balanced offensive attack in the first half to get up on the Vikings with Katie Walden scoring 19 points, while her teammate Megan Rettke scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

Augustana tried to counter the Dragon attack with freshman Faith Tinklenberg , who scored 10 points in the first half to tie her career-high, while Whitney Hofer scored nine points and added three rebounds.

The Vikings shot 12-for-30 in the first half, good for 40 percent while shooting 4-for-9 from the three point line. Moorhead shot 16-for-29 in the first half, while going 5-for-10 from beyond the arc, with Walden making four of the five three's.

Much like the start of the game, the Vikings got out to a 6-0 run to start the second half, but the Dragons again turned it around on Augustana with an 13-5 run of their own to put the score at 58-44 in favor of the Dragons at the 12:59 mark.

Moorhead kept the Vikings down all night as a six-point deficit was the closest Augustana got in the second half, but did outscore the Dragons 34-to-31in the second half on 10-of-33 shooting. In the game, Augie shot 41.5 percent on 22-of-53 shooting, while shooting 7-of-17 from the three point line.

Tinklenberg went on to score a career-high 11 points on the night, while Hofer led all Vikings with 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting and five rebounds.

Megan Doyle was held scoreless in the first half, but ended the night with 10 points, while adding three rebounds and two assists on the night.

The Dragons three headed monster in Walden, Rettke and Krista Opheim combined to score 53 out of 75 points in the game. Rettke finished the night with a double-double scoring 21points while grabbing 12 rebounds. Walden also finished the night with 21 points, while Opheim ended the night with 11 points.

The Vikings will try to get back in the win column tomorrow night against Minnesota, Crookston (7-6, 3-4 NSIC) at 6 p.m. in Crookston, Minn.
