Box Score

Augustana erupted for 3 second-half goals en route to a 4-2 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference win over Minnesota State Moorhead Saturday afternoon at the Augustana Soccer Complex.

With the win, Augustana improved to 6-6-5 overall and 3-3-4 in the NSIC as the Vikings won their first-ever game at their new on-campus field. They are now 1-1-3 at home this season.

MSU Moorhead struck first when Jordyn Wallenborn scored at the 9:46 mark off an assist by Katelin Roos to give the Dragon the early 1-0 lead.

Augustana tied the score about 20 minutes later when Jessie Huff took a pass from Kayla Peek and scored from right in front of the goal. It was Huff's team-high seventh goal of the season.

Wallenborn put the Dragons in front moments later. Following a MSUM corner kick Wallenborn scored off assists by Roos and Laura Kohtala. That gave MSU Moorhead a 2-1 halftime lead.

But the Vikings controlled the second half, outshooting the Dragons 11-6 in the final 45 minutes. Katie Shandri took a pass from Stephanie Goos and scored at the 50:54 mark to tie the score 2-2.

The Vikings quickly scored again. Kayla Peek took a shot but MSUM goaltender Alison Wanner made the save. However, the rebound came straight out to Stacy Dally who found the net at the 52:55 mark.

Shandri added an insurance goal at 57:23 as she scored a breakaway goal off assists from Peek and Goos.

Overall, Augustana outshot MSU Moorhead 21-17. Amanda Wagner earned her first career victory as she played the second half and made 2 saves.

Augustana plays its final home game of the season on Sunday when the Vikings welcome Minnesota, Crookston for a 1 p.m. game at the Augustana Soccer Complex.
