The Augustana men's golf team sits in sixth place after the first round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships Sunday at the Hastings Country Club in Hastings, Minn.
The Vikings shot a 310 on Sunday to earn the sixth-place standing. They are just 10 strokes out of second place. Minnesota State University, Mankato holds the first-round lead after shooting a 291. St. Cloud State is second at 300, while Concordia University, St. Paul is third at 302. Wayne State (305) and Bemidji State (309) round out the top 5.
Individually, the Vikings have three golfers in the top 20.
Jon Emerson shot a 73 on Sunday and is tied for sixth place.
Eric Hieb is tied for 12th at 75, while
Adam Walsh is tied for 18th at 77.
Luke Robison shot 85 and is tied for 41st place, while
Joel Thompson is 45th at 90.
Billy Barnhart of St. Cloud State is the frst-round leader after shooting a 3-under par 69.
Monday's second round begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
