Round 2 Results
The Augustana men's golf team surged to fourth place following the second round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships Monday at the Hastings Country Club in Hastings, Minn.
Behind sub-80 rounds by
Eric Hieb,
Jon Emerson and
Joel Thompson, the Vikings shot 306 on Monday to climb 2 spots in the team standings. Augustana entered the day in sixth place after Sunday's first round. The Vikings have a 2-round total of 616.
Minnesota State University, Mankato, retained its lead by carding a 300 on Monday to sit atop the team standings at 591. St. Cloud State is second at 611, while Bemidji State is third at 614.
Augustana made its jump in the standings thanks to the 1-2 punch of
Eric Hieb and
Jon Emerson. Hieb had the low round of the day, firing a 2-under par 70 for a 36-hole total of 145. His strong second round helped vault him from 12th place to second place. Meanwhile, Emerson is 2 shots back in third place at 147 after he shot a 74 on Monday.
Also faring well on Monday was
Joel Thompson, who shot a 79 on Monday after carding a 90 on Sunday. He is in 44th place. Meanwhile,
Adam Walsh is in a tie for 29th place at 162 and
Luke Robison is in a 41st place tie at 168.
Kyle Bahe shot his second consecutive 72 to hold the 36-hole lead at 144, just 1 shot ahead of Hieb.
The final three rounds of the NSIC Championships will be played this spring at the Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minn.
