THIS WEEK: The Augustana football team (8-3, 7-3 NSIC) will try to defend its Mineral Water Bowl title on Saturday when the Vikings take on Missouri Western State (8-3, 6-3 MIAA) in the 44th Mineral Water Bowl. Kickoff is slated for noon at Tiger Stadium in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Saturday's game is a rematch of last year's matchup which saw Augustana defeat Missouri Western State 37-16. 

MINERAL WATER BOWL: The Mineral Water Bowl began in 1948 as a high school game, then featured small college teams from 1954 to 1975. From 1992 to 1999, junior college teams played. The game is a fundraiser for the Excelsior Springs Quarterback Club, which donates the proceeds to athletic and academic activities for area children. The game annually features top non-playoff teams from the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. This will be the 10th match up between the two conferences. The MIAA holds a 7-2 series lead. 

TICKETS: Advance tickets for Saturday's Mineral Water Bowl may be purchased through the Augustana Athletic Department. Fans are asked to stop by the office, located on the second floor of the Elmen Center. Otherwise, tickets will be available at the stadium. Tickets cost $10. 

RADIO: All Viking football games can be heard on KIKN Radio (FM-100.5). The game can also be heard on the internet at: www.kikn.com. Veteran broadcaster Jeff Fylling will call all of the action, while John Schultz, a former All-NCC quarterback with the Vikings, provides color commentary. The broadcast begins with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to kickoff. 

WEBCAST INFORMATION: Saturday's Mineral Water Bowl will be webcast on the internet as part of the NSIC's television agreement with Penn Atlantic TV. Fans wanting to follow the action can go to the following link: http://www.northernsun.tv. The service is free, but fans will need to set up an account with Penn Atlantic.

AUGUSTANA SPORTSCENE: Augustana Sportscene is in its sixth season on UTV cable channel 10 in Sioux Falls. The 30-minute weekly television show airs Saturdays at noon and select Sundays at 10:30 p.m. Augustana Sportscene, hosted by Viking director of athletics Bill Gross, is available in 152 communities in eastern South Dakota, northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota.
