The loss drops the Vikings to 5-1 on the season and 0-1 in the conference. The Marauders improve to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in conference.

U-Mary challenged Augie from the beginning, outscoring the Vikings 12-5 in the first 6:64 of the game and maintained a seven-point lead by trading baskets with Augie for the next five minutes.

Augie then scored nine unanswered points capped off by a dunk by sophomore forward Derrick De Zeeuw. Lee Stephens recorded the assist on the play, which moved the score to 19-17 in favor of the Vikings.

U-Mary's Eric Erdmann tied the score at 19-19 before freshman guard Cameron McCaffrey dropped in a layup off of the fast break to give Augie the 21-19 advantage with 1:46 to play. The Marauders scored a layup of their own, but McCaffrey scored again to keep the lead at 23-21.

Lee Cameron of the Marauders was fouled by freshman guard Kenny Brown and made both free throw attempts to lock the score before a jumper by Erdman gave them the 25-23 advantage with 36 seconds on the clock. Sophomore guard Cody Schilling was then fouled with three seconds on the clock and made both free throws to tie the game 25-25 at the half.

U-Mary outscored the Vikings 15-4 in the first 6:66 of the second half, earning them a 40-29 lead. Augie cut the deficit to six, going on a 7-2 run and moving the score to 42-36 with 8:45 to play.

Erdmann converted an old-fashioned 3-point play before being fouled on a layup the next possession and making only one of two free throws. Senior guard #David Foster was fouled on a layup and made both from the charity stripe to make the game 47-38 with 7:25 to play.
